Bamboozled Productions is excited to announce the return of Stirling Fringe for 2019 with its biggest program yet, brimming with local, national and interstate talent scheduled over ten thrilling days in an idyllic location.
Building on the successes of previous years, the boutique event will once again bring the delights of the Adelaide Fringe into the Hills, hosted on the picturesque Stirling Lawns using two venues and an outdoor stage.
Boasting 82 individual events and showcasing 52 different companies, Stirling Fringe really does have something for everyone: from comedy to cabaret, jazz bands to burlesque, and late-night fun to family entertainment.
Participants include three local Adelaide Hills acts, another 10 from elsewhere in South Australia, 15 interstate companies and 24 international acts hailing from such places as England, Canada, Scotland, Germany, New Zealand, Ireland and France.
Louise Clarke, director of Bamboozled Productions says: “We are beyond proud to bring the excitement of Fringe to the heart of the Adelaide Hills with a tailor made a program of world class shows.
“And best of all, we get to experience these performances away from the hustle and bustle of the city in these beautiful spaces under the gorgeous trees of Stirling Lawns, while relaxing with Adelaide Hills beer and wine. Stirling Fringe delivers the very best acts of the Fringe to the most gorgeous of towns, and we get to show off our beautiful Adelaide Hills to our visiting artists and audiences at the same time.
“We’re also proud of our locals who show such amazing support for our festival every year by almost selling out our entire program. So this year we’ve gone all out, programming more shows than ever before.”
Characterised with genuine diversity, the 2019 Stirling Fringe includes 55% female fronted acts and a strong contingent of LGBT artists, while also covering the major performance categories of the Adelaide Fringe.
The range of acts to be found in Stirling also caters for all ages, including an extensive list of family shows and mid-week matinees.
In addition to featuring eight Australian premiere shows, there will be six events in the Hills you won’t catch anywhere else in the Adelaide Fringe. Among this group is the hugely popular Jazz High Tea, an immersive outdoor experience occurring on both Sundays of the program and certain to sell out.
There are also a host of Stirling exclusive family shows: the acclaimed physical comedy of Dado: A Frayed Knot, Boxing from Kiwi clown Fraser Hooper, multi award winning comedian Tessa Waters in How to be a Rockstar, Adelaide Hills family band Marmalade 5 and the comic magic of Britain’s Able Mable.
Alongside this exciting program, attendees can visit the festival bar and food stalls to experience the best beer, wine and eats the Hills region has to offer, while enjoying a rolling program of music on the free outdoor stage.
It all kicks off in grand style with the Opening Night Party on Friday February 22 and runs through to Sunday March 3.
The comedy program includes headline shows from internationally renowned Australian comics Cal Wilson, Damian Callinan and Becky Lucas. Meanwhile Adelaide’s Anya Anastasia returns to perform her self-titled, autobiographical off-off-Broadway comedy musical, Ireland’s Lords of Strut deliver comic dance with Release the Freak and Séayoncé is a dragtastic séance.
In addition to her kids’ show, 2017 Fringe Award winner Tessa Waters will also appear in a reprise of the hit 2018 Fringe show, Fringe Wives Club: Glittery Clittery.
With its host of exclusives, the extensive children’s program for 2019 also includes Fringe favourite Children Are Stinky and the absurdity of Mr Snot Bottom’s Stinky Silly Show.
There are cabaret options aplenty, including the sizzling burlesque of Serpent Dancer & the She Devils, and the award-winning Tash York, who performs her own show Badass, while also teaming up with local stand-up, Boo Dwyerin Petty Bitches.
Add to all this, a full complement of music, magic, theatre and interactive offerings and Stirling promises to deliver something quite sensational for Fringe 2019.
This quality program, the equal of the city centre hubs only marked with an intimate, more relaxed atmosphere, means that Stirling Fringe really is the Fringe’s home away from home.
