Established as a licensed public house in 1870, Cumberland Hotel has seen a resurgence of new audience attending the venue in recent times with new publican Michael Parker dedicated to serving old fashioned hospitality and home-style meals in the newly refurbished front bar and kitchen that has also recently seen a list of Adelaide’s best bands perform along with interstate touring bands of many genre. Michael is dedicated to supporting and growing original music in the venue attracting solid numbers of music enthusiast while continuing to host some top-shelf cover bands to create balance for the large variety of taste of patrons old and new.
On the original music side Michael is also creating opportunity for performers that have written music but whom have had to perform covers most of their lives to make ends meet bringing up families and never having their original material heard. These local artists will be recorded Live At The Cumby and released on electronic platforms through the newly formed Port Adelaide based Sly Grog Records and Distributed to the world by Ditto Music. To deliver Sly Grog Records into the world, Michael has teamed up with long time music business manager and promoter Darrel Baird from Blue Tongue Management whom has worked with The Angels, Ian Moss, Don Walker, Brewster Brothers, Kevin Borich, Monshine Jug and String Band, The Radiators, Adrain Belew (USA), former AC/DC and current Rose Tattoo Bassist Mark Evans, The Brown Brothers, Darren Jack and a host of youth acts across Australia over 21 years. The inaugural session titled The Original West Enders is supported by West End Breweryand launches at the Semaphore Music Festival 27th September 2018
Boasting two new purpose built stages, Live At The Cumby ‘Stage Alphabet’ (150pax)inside the venue has been named and dedicated to celebrate the life of legendary West End promoter Romauld Josep Szewczuwianiec (R.I.P). or Ron Alphabet as he was better known, for his massive input into the music industry in the region since the 70’s and for his 30 years of service to The Cumberland Hotel. (Ron was quoted by Jimmy Barnes as giving Cold Chisel their first break). Stage Alphabet will be graced with electric Rock, Blues, Rockabilly, Punk, Metal, Country and Psychedelic/Experimental bands. The second stage, situated in the revamped beer garden, now with its own bar and disabled facilities, ‘Live At The Garden’(300pax), will feature acoustic and light electric performers and different genre including blues, country, folk and adult contemporary throughout the summer of 2018/19. The front of the venue is currently being constructed into new outdoor alfresco dining experience ready for the Semaphore Music Festival on the September long-weekend.
In the true fashion of old school public houses of the 1800’s, Cumberland Hotel Glanville is family friendly, hosts a vibrant social club, community and private events, spacious upstairs areas for meetings and private dining, boasts a nicely priced menu, has one super screen and multiple smaller screens throughout the venue for televised sporting events like the AFL and NRL Grand Finals and in-house live performances, offers weekly rock n roll dance lessons, 8 ball, darts, trivia, poker tournament, barista coffee, genuine hospitality and live music 5 nights a week.

The Original West Enders is all about bringing together local song writing musicians of Adelaide’s western coastal suburbs to perform live, record and release their original music. Sponsored by West End Breweries and The Cumberland Hotel Glanville, proprietor of Live At The Cumby Michael Parker is dedicated to raising opportunity for the regions amazingly talented musicians whom have for the most part, not had a lot of opportunity to have their original songs recorded and released. As a result the formation of Port Adelaide based record label Sly Grog Records. The shows will be perfromed and recorded Live At The Cumby on ‘Stage Alphabet’

Dominic Anthony Guida who has held a professional career spanning over 25 years Dominic has travelled extensively performing nationally and internationally. As an accomplished guitarist and inspiring singer Dominic covers many styles of music including, pop, rock, blues, country, jazz, soul and reggae. As a songwriter, Dominic has recorded his own music as well as performed with such artists as Suzi Quatro, Wendy Mathews, Neil Sedaka, Glenn Shorrock, Phil Emmanuel, Russell Morris, Ross Wilson and Daryl Braithwaite to name a few.
Wormwood featuring Darren Constable will be performing in this reformed late 90’s Adelaide band with original progressive rock songs that shout that era’s experimental times. Darren‘s performances have spanned 30 years and this show will be showcasing his original works from through-out his career
Potoc (pronounced Potoch) has spent his music career writing away on his own compositions pretty much in secret hidden away in the family den on the Lefevre Peninsula while performing cover songs to the locals. This talented musicians style is best described as rock on a country guitar by a classically trained musician, Poto? delivers his song lines with his pristine alto vocals. Haven never been given the chance to record and release his original music, this leather clad performer will be showcasing his music at The Semaphore Festival Live At The Cumby.
Adam Cocca first performed in the 1980’s pub rock band Woodstock and later joined High Voltage. Adam has been performing across Adelaide with Acoustic Blonde, however, Adams song writing has been on going through his career with no vehicle to deliver his original music live until now. One voice, one guitar and a whole heap of feel is what you’ll get from this unique and entertaining artist as he performs a selection of his own compositions during The Semaphore Festiva

Accomplished guitarist, Adelaide singer, songwriter Dimitra delivers her pop rock style music with a tinge of country and crystal clear vocals. Recently and independently releasing her single ‘Impossible Possible’ Dimitra has toured and shared the stage with artists such as Jimmy Barnes, The Angels, Johnny Diesel, Cotton Keays & Morris, Kevin Borich (in The Port) and Justin Derrico [P!NK]. She will be showcasing her original material along with a host of cover songs for your listening pleasure Live At The Garden during the Semaphore Festival 2018.
Lily and the Drum – Live At The Garden Stage – Cumberland Hotel Glanville

Lily and the Drum is an Alternative Blues, Roots Rock and Soul duo featuring vocalist, guitarist Lily and John on percussion, harmonica & backing vocals. Their shows have been described as “honest, raw and energetic” and “a guitar and drum duo with an exciting rich melodic sound”. This SA pair has been performing relentlessly since forming 5 years ago touring both cities and regional centres. Following their new release “Buried in Blue” in 2016 Lily and the Drum will continue to tour.
“Australia is big place and although we have performed over 500 gigs and covered over 190,000kms. The duo is popular for their live performances however; their recorded performances have also captured the attention of the music industry having had three Albums in the Top 25 on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Chart. They have performed at numerous festivals throughout the country and opened for acts such as The Angels, The Black Sorrows, Mental As Anything, Tex Perkins.
Don Morrisons Raging Thirst – Live At The Garden Stage – Cumberland Hotel Glanville

Songwriter, singer, guitarist and guitar maker Don Morrison has shared the stage with many of the biggest names in Australian music like Midnight Oil, Hunters and Collectors, Billy Thorpe, Joe Camilleri, Australian Crawl, Men At Work, Stephen Cummings, Ross Wilson and has worked with internationals Bo Diddley, Joe Cocker, Rodriguez and Billy Ray Cyrus. He was brave enough to stand next to Shakin’ Stephens in a urinal and was nearly killed by Willie Nelson in Austin, Texas. . He’s done gigs from Bridgetown to Byron Bay, from Sydney to San Antonio and released a dozen CDs of mostly original songs under his own name and that of his many bands such as The Bodgies, Raging Thirst, The Elmores, The Lonely Cosmonauts, Prawnhead and The Rank Outsiders. He will be performing Live At The Cumby for the Semaphore Festival with his band Raging Thirst.

In little more than a short 12 months, ROAD KINGS have produced what is now defined as a unique sound, blending influences from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson. Rock and Blues with a full tank of gasoline ptoducing eight powerful songs resonate with contemporary life that leaves us wanting more in their latest CD release, “Whiteline Weary”. The albums hypnotic rhythms and funk laden beats will drag you in and keep you there.
Singer-songwriter Tim Nicholson is a familiar face around the Adelaide music scene, with a well-rounded background in Rockabilly/Rock ‘n’ Roll. Combined with a solid dose of hard rock in his formative years, Tim has penned over a hundred original songs from the heart across a wide range of genre. Featuring Wade Schirmer on Harmonica/Digeridoo, Ian Williams on Drums and new vocal sensation Abbey Jane Nicholson together bring incredible quality to the sound. Tim Nicholson on vocals/guitar completes the mix.

Mick Kidd and Dave Blight perform in their guitar/harmonica blues duo. Dave Blight, famed harmonica maestro with Cold Chisel’s performed on Mick’s 2014 release “Winter Sun” and together claimed the 2014 South Australian Blues Awards of Outstanding Solo/Duo as well as Mick with Best Male Performer. This has been followed up by 2015 winning the inaugural Adelaide Roots & Blues Associations Memphis Blues Challenge going on to represent South Australia on the world stage in Memphis in 2016 where they reached the Quarter Finals after performing 3 nights at the iconic Jerry Lee Lewis “12 Bar” on Beale Street. The duo will perform their 7th Semaphore festival Live At The Cumby.
